Slowest service ever. Staff happy to leave you standing around for 20mins while they eat or sit there on their phones without saying a single word. No such thing as a quick visit here. Gone downhill massively.

Went in yesterday to buy 4 Choi and a new pond pump. 2 staff members in the shop. 1 was on her phone in the pond section. We walked through to the fish out the back and identified the ones we would like, but no one came out at all. I went back in and the same lady was sat there on her phone. I left the door open as my partner was still outside. She looked up and said to me, "Is anyone out there?" I said "no" she said."I'll shut the door then." I replied, "No staff members but my husband and child are out there." She went to the door, looked at my partner, and walked off to the storage room. I then went to the door and said to my husband, "Let's go elsewhere. No one has any intention of working in here." As we left, the male staff member in the tropical area was also just sitting there on his phone. What a joke we left.

To add to this, when we have gone there in the past, there is only 1 lady who actually knows anything. Any other staff I've encountered just google my questions or simply say they don't know or don't have what we need. Once we were told they don't have something, then we looked and found it straight away!

What a shame. This is someone's business and the staff are giving the store a very bad reputation.

Never going back.

Gone down a lot recently in my opinion. They sold me fish that I did not know shouldn't be mixed, and subsequently died. Expensive shrimp that lasted less than two weeks (and it's not my tank before anyone thinks that) and when I told them....not even an apology. Very disappointed.....it used to be so so good. Won't be returning, sorry.

Very knowledgeable which meant I felt safe to buy my little baby goldfish ? (this is not the tank they are in, this is the tank for my shrimp and snails, but when I'm cleaning King Boo and Homer's home, it's their safe place. Thank you for our new babies ?

My second visit and l was a bit hesitant after losing some fish days after purchasing back in 2022 but decided to give them another chance. Very helpful staff the pond fish section needs updating so they can showcase their fish to encourage the customers to part with their cash .

I came in originally to purchase items for my new fish aquarium.
The service I received was second to none. Absolutely brilliant. They gave me so much advice. Don't know what I would have done without them.
The quality of the items was excellent.
Came few days later to purchase my first lot of fish. They gave excellent advice about the fish.
Will be back in next few days for more fish.

Great staff amazing choice of fish, tanks and equipment. We'll worth a visit if you're in the market for a new tank or fish.

They have around a 50/50 spit between freshwater and marine.

I currently live in Luton and have been using Aquatics warehouse Hertford, after acquiring a 400 litre tank decided we wanted to go tropical and after looking up aquatic centres near us we found Fathoms. After walking in the store seemed to be a bit more up class than what we were used to. As we were mainly after fish species we skipped past the display tanks of which many were set up and had living decoration and picture perfect aquatic scenes including fish in them to visit the main "fish hall". Its nice to be able to take your time and look at whats on offer where even the stock tanks were setup with gravel and some form of decorative piece in; We were used to a room of blue, bare glass and the odd floating victim that did not survive! This was not the case at Fathoms although the back grounds were blue the tanks still had time invested to present as best as possible. So we chose 4 x different plecos, 2 rainbow shark, 2 cuckoo catfish and 6 Dalmatian mollies just to get the newly setup tank started. Even though we were specific with the actual individuals we wanted because of size or colour the staff obliged and set about trapping them for us. Compared to the other store we visited quite often Fathoms seems more customer friendly, fish friendly and where the live stock and accessories are separated they seem better organized and much much better stocked. Rather then having items with brown tape wrapped around them with prices hand written at least the accessories section has item on shelves easy to understand the prices. Fathoms till is also a breath of fresh air where each item input into the till is clearly displayed on the POS with an itemized receipt where the other or should i say previous store simply explained a price and you received a receipt with a total often leaving you working out if you got a good deal. so easy to get to and a much better experience..thanks Fathoms *
