After more than a decade of being a die hard petsmart parent. I can officially say. Please quite buying your fish from big box stores and put your trust in Texas aquatics!!!!
Most recently we’ve had two betas, four tetras, and some sucker fish die from petsmart; slowly, individually, over the course of about four months. Not all at once.
After switching to Texas aquatics, with their lovely staff and immense knowledge, along with the sheer amount of reliable supplies, we have a happy healthy tank.

UPDATE:
I GOT HIT BY THE TORNADO IN VALLEY VIEW ON MAY 25, 2024. Tori called almost immediately to check on me and to see what they could do to help. Canton and the guys were out early Monday morning with all kinds of gear to assist in general clean up. Luckily, my 3 aquariums all survived completely intact, but there's no electricity for the pumps.. they brought a generator and hooked up my pumps and power filters before they left. They're returning tomorrow to pack up the fish to board at the store until my power is restored. They've become friends and now part of the family. This is so appreciated. They TRULY do go the extra mile for their friends and customers. **

This has been my go-to for freshwater aquarium fish for over a year. Very knowledgeable staff and very patient with both customers and a new staff member. Even though busy, they will walk the entire store to find a certain fish if you forgot where it was. The prices are quite fair and it's not a super "pretty" store, but everything I've gotten from the pretty Dallas stores don't live their expectancy and the staff gives really bad advice, like telling me a crayfish (lobster) won't chase my exotic goldfish.. yeah.. the crayfish killed them. . I've not had any issues with TA. You won't please everyone who walks in your doors, but I've not had a bad experience here yet. My brother and his gf bought fish from them and drove all the way to Memphis, Tennessee and every fish made it to their new home alive and well.. after an 8 hour car trip.
Great place to buy used aquarium set ups also.

We love Texas Aquatics! Very friendly staff. So far they have the most massive selection of fish and plants I've seen around the area. They are more affordable too compared to other fish stores.

Bought 3 jewel Cichlids from here as well as some aquatic plants and drift wood. They were friendly and knowledgeable! All my fish are doing great and the plants have grown exponentially since I bought them. I will definitely be coming back here.

Texas Aquatics was a friendly experience with tons of different kind of fish, used and new tanks, feeder fish, etc. I called about some plants and they had guppy grass where no other stores in the DFW area within my reach had, plus lots of other plants. I will say that I didn't properly quarantine or treat the plants as I didn't have time and ended up getting Bladder Snails in my tank, so be aware that you may get some freebies that you may or may not want.

I found Texas Aquatics through Google just trying to find a local fish store that wasn’t a big corporation and goodness I’m so glad I checked them out. Super helpful and friendly staff that guided me to starting my first tank. Beautiful, wide selection of livestock and a cool place to just walk around. Y’all have a customer here for life!

Great experience!! Great customer service! We will never go back to petco or petsmart again. Didn’t get pictures of inside too busy looking at all the fishes. Great shop! Thank you.

We did lose 2 fishes that day we put them in. Not sure why but all other fishes are doing well!
